Svyaztransneft’s Oka Region branch (based in Ryazan) has completed construction of a fibre-optic communications link (FOCL) between Nizhny Novgorod and Privolzhsky communications centres.
The work launched by professionals in January 2018, was performed under the programme of technical upgrading of Svyaztransneft’s communications sites in Kstovo District of Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The newly built communications network is designed to control the processes at oil trunk pipelines of Transneft Upper Volga, thus ensuring reliable transportation.
Trenchless laying of 45 km of fibre-optic cable in the soil was done using the cable laying machinery that had minimum impact on the soil layer. Directional drilling was utilised in the project, from Nizhny Novgorod communications centre to Privolzhsky communications centre, to build 61 enclosed underwater, motorway, railway and communication line crossings.
New equipment was installed and mounted at the Privolzhsky, Starolikeyevo, Gorky Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate No. 2 and Nizhny Novgorod communications centres.
The FOCL is being integrated with the existing digital transmission systems at the Yaroslavl – Meshikha – Nizhny Novgorod, Meshikha – Almetievsk, Meshikha – Ryazan, Meshikha – Lazarevo, Moscow – Meshikha – Samara sections. This ensures redundancy of high-speed communications links and high quality and reliability of all communications types for oil pipelines operated by Transneft Upper Volga.
