Svyaztransneft’s Volga and Kama branch (Kazan) has completed construction of a fibre-optic communications link (FOCL) for the Almetievsk – Kuybyshev-1, Almetievsk – Kuybyshev-2 and Kaltasy – Kuibyshev oil trunk pipelines’ telemetry systems.
The implementation of the FOCL will further expand the list and quality of the provided communication services necessary for the trouble-free operation of Transneft Kama Region’s oil pipelines.
The construction was carried out since June 2018 on the territories of the Republic of Tatarstan and Samara Region. From Almetievsk to Samara, experts laid 21 fiber-optic and 18 copper-core cable lines for connection to Svyaztransneft’s high-speed communication channels. The works were carried out as part of technical upgrading and revamping of the Company's communications network.
The cable was laid in difficult conditions, in areas with a large number of intersections with the existing communications. A significant amount of works on the development of soil and laying of the cable in trenches was conducted manually. Crossings through artificial and natural barriers were made using directional drilling units at 15 sites.
