The Northern branch of Svyaztransneft (Ukhta) has finished constructing and assembling a mobile overland radio communication system of the DMR standard at the Usa – Ukhta and Ukhta – Yaroslavl oil trunk pipelines of Transneft North. At present, commissioning works are underway.

When the facility is commissioned, over 1,500 km running along OTPs in the Komi Republic, Arkhangelsk, Vologda and Yaroslavl Regions will be completely covered with modern high-technology radio communication.

The construction started in July 2017. During this period, new commutators were assembled at Ukhta and Usa communications centres, basic stations were installed at 49 radio relay stations and 15 control and monitoring stations (CMS) of Transneft North.

Seven more basic stations were installed at mobile radio communications centres (RCC).  So, during the works at the places where oil pipelines cross water obstacles modern communication channels are used, a channel’s length reaching up to 40 km downstream.

The mobile overland radio communication system will provide information on the network’s condition in real-time mode at the level of the regional control centre (Ukhta) and the main control centre (Moscow). It will allow solving any industrial and operational issues quickly, enlarge the range and increase the quality of the services rendered to ensure emergency-free operation of Transneft North’s oil trunk pipelines.
The system is planned to be commissioned on 1 September 2018. The scheduled deadline is caused by the great length of the commissioned facilities’ infrastructure.
