The North Branch (Ukhta) of Svyaztransneft, JSC, is completing construction of the first stage of the program of the unified information system (UIS) «Yaroslavl – Ukhta Fiber-Optic Communication Line (FOCL)».
Since the start of the construction in the territory of four constituent entities of the Russian Federation – the Republic of Komi, Arkhangelsk, Vologda and Yaroslavl regions – more than 1,100 km of fiber optic cable have been laid. The total length of the trunk line will exceed 1,200 km. At present, work is underway for laying the last kilometers of cable, installing optical couplings, terminating distribution frames and measuring the installed regenerator sections.
As part of the second stage of this project, in the current year it is planned to install the equipment and bring the facility to its full designed capacity. Its commissioning will ensure a qualitatively new level of communication for Transneft, JSC, using state-of-the-art data transmission systems up to STM-16, 10GE standards with allocation of channels in all communication hubs and line telemechanics control points and will open up new prospects for further modernization.
